BENIN—Armed robbers have killed a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member identified as David Onyeasina, in Benin, Edo State capital. Two of the robbers have been arrested by the police.

An 18 seat bus that left a motor park in Calabar, Cross Rivers state enroute Enugu was involved in a fatal accident at Biase Local government in Cross Rivers state yesterday morning June 11th. 17 passengers in the bus died instantly while one passenger and the bus driver survived with serious injuries. The Police arrived the scene where they helped to remove the bodies which they deposited at the mortuary. Quite sad! May their souls rest in peace, Amen. See pics from the scene. Housewife stabs self to death over her husband's poor sexual performance

A 32-year-old housewife and evangelist, Nancy (surname withheld) in Okpanam Community, near Asaba in Delta State, allegedly committed suicide by stabbing herself to death on Saturday June 6th. Friends say she committed suicide after complaining about her husband's poor sexual performance since they got married.

Leadership reports that Nancy complained bitterly to a relative that she got to know of her husband's poor sexual prowess after they got married because they did not engage in premarital sex while dating.

Police officers at the Okpanam Police Division confirmed the incident but did not give the name of the couple involved. They said they saw her lifeless body in her room after the husband, who is an engineer, had gone to work. They say investigations into the matter is still ongoing

Over 500 People Pronounced Dead Due To Heat Wave In India

Soaring temperatures have gripped parts of southern and northern India in an extreme heat wave which has killed more than 500 people and looks set to continue this week, officials said on Monday.

The hottest place in India was Allahabad, a city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, which saw mercury rise to 47.7 degrees Celsius (117.8 Fahrenheit) on Sunday, while the capital Delhi recorded a high of 43.5C (110.3F).

Most of the 539 recorded deaths have been of construction workers, the elderly or the homeless in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, said officials, but some deaths have also occurred in Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red warning to affected regions saying that the heat wave conditions are likely to continue over coming days.
Director of Andhra Pradesh's Disaster Management Department K. Dhananjaya Reddy said 325 people had died of sunstroke or dehydration in the state in the last three days.

"We are advising people not to go to work between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.," said Reddy. "We have also opened centers in different places specially in urban areas for the distribution of water and butter milk."

The government has canceled the leave of all doctors as hospitals were being flooded with cases of heat-stroke, he said, adding that compensation of 100,000 rupees ($1,575) will be given to families of people who had died.

While in the neighboring state of Telangana, where 204 people have died, officials have advised people to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of fluids and wear loose clothing.

Taxi drivers in Kolkata - capital of West Bengal state where four deaths have been reported - refused to work between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. after two cabbies died in their cars last week.

SAD NEWS: 20 year Old Stabs 28 year Old Lover To Death

Youth set suspect’s family house ablaze

Tragedy struck yesterday at Ubomiri community in Mbait­oli Local Government Area of Imo State when a 20-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her under­graduate lover to death with a kitchen knife in their house.

The suspect, Chisom Anyanwu who is a student of Akwakuama Girls Secondary School, Owerri had allegedly killed his lover, who visited her following an argument.

The deceased, simply identified as Apo, aged 28, an undergraduate and a native of Egbeada also in Mbaitoli council area had paid an unscheduled visit to his girlfriend at their family house at about noon yesterday.

However, it was learnt that trouble started between the two lovers when the suspect who was cooking, did not take kindly to the deceased’s unscheduled visit to her family house. She asked him to leave immediately as she would not want her elder brothers and sisters to see him.

But the deceased allegedly refused to leave and in the altercation that ensued between the two lovers, Chisom allegedly grabbed the kitchen knife and stabbed Apo on the chest.

The deceased, who was said to be the only son of his parents, according to an eyewit­ness, was rushed to the Christian Medical Centre, Nworieubi in the area where he eventually died.

However, angry youths of Egbeada com­munity, on hearing of the death of their kins­man, stormed the family house of the suspect and allegedly set it ablaze.

The state police command’s spokesman, Mr. Andrew Enwerem (DSP), said the sus­pect is in their custody, while investigation on the matter has commenced.

Former Nigerian International and Rayo Vallecano of Spain goal keeper Wilfred Agbonavbare has reportedly lost his battle with cancer.


 The ex-Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper who had been receiving treatment at a Spanish hospital was said to have died yesterday January 26th.

Agbonavbare, who was a member of Nigeria’s U-21 Mexico 1983 Flying Eagles, the shot stopper lost his wife three years ago to breast cancer. May his soul rest in peace, Amen
